LaTeX for Academic Editors

The logo for the LaTeX for Academic Editors course

Do you work with academic authors who use LaTeX? Have you had to turn them away because you don’t know LaTeX or aren’t comfortable working with it? Do you edit in LaTeX by moving the document to Microsoft Word? Or do you edit in LaTeX already but would like to learn more about the markup language?

If you answered yes to any of those, this course is for you. In 16 modules and over 100 lessons, I’ll cover formatting, document organization, tables, figures, math, bibliographies, and more advanced topics like defining and redefining LaTeX commands. And, I’ll walk through the Overleaf LaTeX editor to show you how to work with your LaTeX clients using change tracking.

By learning how to edit natively in LaTeX, you

  • can work with your clients in the environment they’re most comfortable with,
  • attract clients who don’t want to work in Word,
  • see the effects of your edits on the manuscript’s layout, and
  • be able to add a premium service to your offerings.

What You Get

Each lesson contains a video that walks through the topic. The videos, transcripts, and slides will be downloadable. Most lessons also have downloadable reference sheets as well as sample LaTeX projects you can download or copy to your Overleaf account, if you have one.

You will have access to the course online for as long as the course is available — at least one year after the course is fully rolled-out.1I have no plans at this time to retire the course, and if I do in the future, I’ll give as much notice as possible so you can download any material you want.
